Medical diagnosis with special reference to practical medicine: A guide to the knowledge and discrimination of diseases.Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott, 1864.During the Civil War Da Costa was an acting surgeon in Philadelphia where he supervised a ward for patients with heart disease.
