Legionnaires’ disease. Description of an epidemic of pneumonia.New Engl. J. Med., 297, 1189-97, 1977.First major scientific account. With 11 co-authors. Legionnaire's disease acquired its name after an outbreak of a then-unknown "mystery disease" sickened 221 persons, causing 34 deaths. The people affected were attending a convention of the American Legion.
